These Osborne & Associates books are very thorough. This "Introduction to Microcomputers" series was written by Adam Osborne himself and spans four volumes - Volume 1 actually being the second in the series, preceded by Volume 0. The writing style in these books is very technically accurate and thorough, but also somewhat by: Similarly, the use of microcomputers in schools is so new, says Ms. Roberts of Lesley College, that there has so far been little research to suggest the effect of their use on the way students.

Schools Use of Microcomputers: Report #2 from a National Survey. Becker, Henry Jay Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, v3 n2 p Win Cited by: 3. Results are presented for the fourth annual survey of all U.S. school districts by Quality Educational Data, Inc.

Findings are displayed in tabular form and include information on the following: market penetration by major brands of microcomputers in school districts and buildings; school districts that use microcomputers and the brand or combination of brands; growth patterns; relationship between the size of student enrollment and the likelihood of a district having microcomputers.

Results are presented for the third annual survey of all United States school districts by Quality Education Data, Inc. Findings are displayed in tabular form, and include information on the following: size of the microcomputer marketplace and the kinds of people involved; availability of software by brand for home, business, and education use; the best home education software sellers; availability of software.

The objective of this thesis is to investigate the uses of computer aided learning (CAL) at the elementary level.

Some recent publications on CAL are summarized and discussed. A questionnaire was used and interviews were conducted with elementary teachers in four chosen school districts in Vancouver and Toronto.

From this field research, information was collected on teachers' perceptions on. Results of the survey reveal that classroom teachers make relatively little use of microcomputers to generate or score/analyze teacher-made appraisals. The book will be of interest to readers interested in comparative education, mathematics and science education, curriculum, and survey research methodology.

A study such as TIMSS costs a great deal of money to carry out; and, if the true value of that investment is to be realized, much more research of the kind reported in this collection is.

The market for microcomputers has, however, expanded in the past few years and sales worldwide are measured in billions of dollars. Hundreds of microcomputer manufacturers compete agressively to win a share of the market in the home, school, office and factory.

In this survey alone, details of over business computers are presented. No studies have yet been uncovered that project the number of microcomputers that will be sold to schools.

But by it is safe to estimate that the K school educational consumer market will reflect a conservative five percent of all consumer sales or approximately 2, units!.

Ina Northern California high school teacher, Sara Denniston (pseudonym), (see here and here) surveyed of her history students about their daily use of computer devices, the devices they use, and whether they like to read online.

The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of microcomputers on the ecology of secondary special education classrooms. Observational data were collected in twenty-six secondary school special education classes located in an urban midwestern school by:
